Alexander Uvarov

Alexander Uvarov graduated from the Tomsk Institute of Automated Control Systems and Radioelectronics in 1982 majoring in “Industrial Electronics”. He got employed at TUSUR in 1982. In 2004 he became head of the Tomsk Inter-University Center of Distance Learning. In 1999-2010 he was TUSUR Vice-Rector for Economic Affairs.

Upon Alexander Uvarov’s initiative the educational, scientific and innovative complex of TUSUR was established. This complex aims to create a practice-oriented business and training environment to develop entrepreneurial abilities and skills of undergraduate and graduate students and alumni of the university and encourage R&D commercialization.

In 2007 Dr. Uvarov became deputy of the Tomsk Regional Duma, where he is the member of the legal committee and the member of innovative development commission at the committee for economic policy.

In 2010 Alexander Uvarov became the winner of the Russian Government Award in education. A.F. Uvarov is the author of more than 60 publications.

Research interests: management of innovations and investment, the Triple Helix model for university – government –business interaction.

He is the initiator and the chief editor of the Russian edition of Professor Henry Etzkowitz’ book “The Triple Helix: University-Industry-Government. Innovation in Action”.  He has organized the presentation of the Russian edition to the Russian audience during two seminars held in Tomsk on November 29, 2010 and in Moscow on December 1, 2010 with participation of representatives of Administration of Tomsk region as well as academia and small and medium business from various Russian regions.

In terms of the Triple Helix Model he emphasizes: “Currently, nothing significant happens in this world without interaction of government, industry and university. It is the driving force of innovation economy development”.
