Margherita Balconi

Margherita Balconi is full professor at the University of Pavia. In 2006-2010 she has been member of the Scientific Commettee as by Piemonte Regional Law 4/2006, on “Regional System of Research and Innovation”. Since February 2007 she is President of the Board of Polo Tecnologico Servizi, a company participated by the University of Pavia, the Municipality, the Province and the local Chamber of Commerce with the mission of creating a science park in Pavia.

Current interests include academic patenting, the links between basic research and innovation, the geographical and cognitive distance between organizations collaborating in research, the relationship between firms’ growth and profitability, the real effectiveness of science parks.
